It's a great day to be a Cougar!

Thank you for visiting our website. It is my privilege and honor to serve the Cougar Family as principal. There is an amazing staff and faculty in place at Newton County and we are working diligently to prepare for an excellent 2024-2025 school year. One of my personal favorite quotes from author/educator Rita Pierson says, “Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.” We have incredible students and families at Newton County. I cannot promise perfection, but I can promise this: every student will get their best from us and we will expect their best as well!

Newton County is home to me. My family has been here for generations. I understand the culture of excellence expected from the many communities that comprise Newton County and I intend to meet and exceed the high standard set as your principal. I am a graduate of East Central Community College and I hold a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University, a master's degree from University of West Alabama, and an educational specialist degree from Arkansas State University. I am married to the former Kim Ellzey of Walker, Louisiana, who is a nurse. She and I have two children, Colt, who is a freshman at East Central Community College and Ryann, who is an eighth grader at Newton County Middle and High School.

My family and I are excited to begin our second year in the fall. We are indeed grateful to be a part of the Cougar Family. We are also eager to begin the new school year.

Until then, I pray that you all have a wonderful and safe summer break, and I look forward to meeting each of you in the near future. Should I be of assistance to any of you, please do not hesitate to reach out to me here.

Have a great summer and GO COUGARS!
